Pet overpopulation in the United States can turn what should be a joyful event – the birth of a puppy or kitten – into a tragedy. Each year far more cats and dogs are born than will ever find homes. In fact, the leading cause of death for cats and dogs in the United States is the euthanasia of healthy but unwanted animals. Animal Ark, a no-kill shelter right here in Minnesota, is committed to helping to solve this problem. The organization works to raise awareness about the needs of homeless animals in Minnesota and throughout the nation. On June 2, 2011 Animal Ark will be holding its annual fundraising walk. We’re excited and proud to support this walk and the work of Animal Ark.
Walk Details
The Animal Ark Animal Walk will be held in the scenic area around the Hastings Animal Ark shelter. The walk will include games for owners and dogs, lunch, and a best pet trick contest. Registration starts at 11 a.m., and the walk begins at noon. Walkers can participate as individuals or teams and are encouraged to collect pledges from sponsors. All proceeds from the walk will help fund the work that Animal Ark does on behalf of homeless pets. Supporting or participating in the walk not only helps the animals in Animal Ark's shelter, but it also helps all of the animals touched by the organization’s advocacy work. Click
