Sojos European-Style
Cat Food Mix
Cats
are designed to eat raw, unprocessed foods. And holistic vets
have been recommending
raw foods for cats for over 20 years. Dry cat foods have been
cooked and pelletized, thus robbing them of natural nutrients
and enzymes. That's why we blend Sojourner Farms European-Style
Cat Food Mix from simple, uncooked, all-natural ingredients.
We want it to be as close as possible to cat food the way nature
intended. That means no preservatives, no artificial colors or
flavors only wholesome, human-quality ingredients. And
because there are no fillers in Sojos, theres
much more nutrition in every bite meaning your cat eats
less, and your food lasts typically twice as long as most other
brands.
If youd like, you can also add raw or steamed vegetables
to Sojourner Farms. Its a simple, easy way to make your
own complete and balanced cat food and it only takes a
couple of minutes a day. In short, weve done everything
we can to make this food the best thing you can do for your cat.
Give it a try. Were 100% confident that the results will
amaze you, and we back it up with a money-back guarantee. Sojourner
Farms European-Style Cat Food Mix is the best of both worlds.
It offers the superior nutrition of a raw diet, with the ease
and convenience that people are looking for.
Feeding Instructions
Combine Sojos, raw or lightly-cooked
meat, and water. Let mixture soak in refrigerator for at least
15 minutes (preferably overnight) and serve. You can mix up to
a four-day batch ahead of time and refrigerate in a sealed container
or freeze larger batches. For adult and senior cats we recommend
once-a-day feeding. For kittens we recommend twice-a-day feeding.
(For twice-a-day feeding, split the amounts below in half.)
Starting Out
It is crucial to start your cat
on Sojos gradually. We recommend at least a two-week transition
(4-6
weeks for older,
sick, or finicky cats). Start with just a pinch of Sojos, meat,
and water added to the food you’re currently using and
gradually increase each day as you decrease your cat’s
old food.
Adding Variety
We at Sojourner Farms believe variety is an essential part of a
cat's diet, and thus encourage adding veggies and other healthy
foods, in addition to meat.
Try mixing
in a teaspoon of chopped greens, carrots, or other natural foods
such as cooked rice, yogurt, or eggs. Avoid citrus fruits, onions,
and spicy foods. For dogs with special dietary needs, consult a
holistic veterinarian. To find a holistic vet in your area, call
the American Holistic
Veterinary Medical Association at (410) 569-0795.
Commonly Asked Questions & Helpful Tips
Q: Is homemade pet food expensive and hard to make?
A: No. Preparation
takes only a few minutes a day. The results are well worth the
short time invested. Sojos® has no fillers so it lasts much
longer than other pet foods. This bag should last most adult cats
7-8 weeks. When you consider the price per feeding, it’s
a great value. Check out this
article for more info.
Q: Can I feed Sojos without adding meat?
A: This product is intended
for intermittent or supplemental feeding only. You must follow
the feeding instructions and add the proper amount of meat to use
this food for daily feeding.
Q: What if my cat has allergies?
A: Sojos isn’t processed
into pellets or sprayed with synthetic additives (which can burden
the body with toxicity), so your cat shouldn’t experience
allergic reactions like they might with other pet foods.
Q: Will my cat gain or lose weight on Sojos?
A: When feeding a
raw diet your cat may lose a little fat, which is normal, and then
over time gain it back in muscle. If you want to keep weight on,
soak the mix overnight, or try using meat with a higher fat content.
Avocados and alfalfa powder also promote weight gain.
Q: Is this food too soft to clean my cat’s teeth?
A: Dry
cat food does not clean teeth. That would be like people eating
potato chips to clean their teeth. Your cat’s teeth are kept
clean by a strong immune system and healthy, plaque-fighting saliva,
which are the result of a healthy diet.
Q: Do I need to add a supplement to this food?
A: Unlike Sojos,
traditional pet food is cooked, thus robbing it of naturally-occurring
nutrients. Still, we encourage supplements to boost nutrition for
sick, pregnant, and senior cats, kittens or even healthy cats.
Adding raw vegetables to our mix is a great way to provide natural
supplementation.
Q: Can cats really eat raw meat?
A: Your cat’s digestive
system is designed to handle raw meat. After all, wild or zoo animals
don’t eat cooked meat. We’ve been using raw meat since
1985 with fantastic results. Purchase healthy selections of meat,
always refrigerate or freeze, and follow recommended safe handling
instructions on meat packaging. If you are still concerned, rinse
meat in a solution of grapefruit seed extract or human-grade hydrogen
peroxide mixed with water. If you prefer to cook the meat, add
a general nutritional supplement or veggies to compensate for the
nutrients lost to cooking. The important thing is to do what makes
you feel comfortable.
