Adam is our Production Manager. Happily married to his wife, Nik (who also works at Sojos), Adam enjoys spending his time with her and their 3 dogs; Murphy (Chocolate Lab), Lily (Rat Terrier/Lab mix) and Santo (Flashy Brindle Boxer). Adam also enjoys hunting, fishing, MN Wild hockey and the Green Bay Packers.
Brennan is our Production Supervisor and has been with Sojos since 2010. A working musician by night, you can usually find Brennan with a cup of coffee in one hand and a wrench in the other, trying to cut partial seconds off a filling cycle. His Pit/Lab mix Monty comes to work every day, waiting patiently for that magic word, “overage.” Outside Sojos, Brennan enjoys canoeing, camping and telecasters. He also fronts the Twin Cities' least-traditional traditional music revue, Shredneck.
Cal is our Production Supervisor at the Freeze-Drier. He has a long-ranging background in food production, and even worked for another company manufacturing pet food. He’s a grandfather to 5 and father to 2, along with his wife Nola. Cal enjoys cooking—mainly because it leads to eating! He also spends his free time in the Minnesota outdoors, hunting, fishing, biking and hiking.
Chris joined the Sojos team as the South Central Territory Sales Rep. and has years of experience working in the ‘raw and dehydrated pet food’ industry. He and his family live in beautiful Pine, CO. with mountains, literally, in their backyard. When he’s not exploring the backcountry of Colorado with his family—wife Whitney, 8-year-old daughter Stella, 1-year-old son Joon and Staffordshire Terrier/ Weimaraner mix Volta, you’ll find Chris and co. tending to their mountainside veggie garden and hand-built greenhouse.
Darrick wears many hats, but primarily he is our Inventory Coordinator. Pet-dad to one rambunctious dog, Digby (who commutes to Sojos HQ with him) and two carnivorous cats, he has a love for organized efficiency, bean counting and TPS reports (he’s working on training Digby to file said TPS reports).
Eric is the SW Territory Sales Rep. and lives with his wife Ida in Redondo Beach, CA. They’re fur family includes two black lab mixes—Sofie and Fagiolo—as well as two cats—a Silver Tabby named Julius and a Brown Torty named Artimus. He’s a self-admitted ‘foodie,’ enjoys trying new food and sunny California weather.
Joe is our Production Coordinator. He has held various positions in the pet industry over the last 25 years and has worked for Sojos for the past 6. Along the way he’s been involved in every department of manufacturing plant-wide at Sojos. He lives on a hobbyfarm with his wife Kim, and their 5 Australian Shepherds, raising natural sheep and ducks. He enjoys traveling with his dogs to herding trials around the country, as well as hosting trials and clinics on his own farm.
Kira is our Marketing and PR Specialist. She recently adopted a boisterous Sheepdog/Spaniel mix named Bosley. When not running around chasing Bos, she enjoys hiking the mountains of Missoula, MT, where her family lives or biking the San Francisco hills, where she used to live. She is an avid metal-smith and welds all kinds of creations in her jewelry studio and can cook you up some vegan cuisine that doesn’t taste like cardboard.
Leroy is our Controller and has been in accounting for over 20 years. He enjoys spending time with his family, which includes fiancé Kim, daughters Samantha, Jessica and Adrianna and son Cody. When he’s not cheering on his kids at school events or counseling them on the ways of the world, he enjoys the outdoors, music, golf, basketball and football. He’s a MN Vikings fan, but the Sojos’ Packer fans don’t hold it against him.
Luke is our Shipping and Receiving Lead and has been with Sojos for one year. He was born and raised in Minnesota, and lives local in NE Minneapolis. Luke’s two cats Lou and Larry, along with his Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound mix Mick keep him company. In his spare time, you’ll find Luke snapping photos, drawing or watching movies.
Maggie is the Co-Owner of Sojos and has been running the business with Ward since 2004. She has a Master’s degree in Organizational Development from the University of St. Thomas and originally hails from Green Bay, WI (which causes much unrest in the Johnson household come football season).
Manda is our Quality Assurance Technician. She grew up on a farm in North Western Minnesota, but now calls South Minneapolis home. Manda’s family includes her husband Andy, her 17-year-old cat Ellie and Lab/Great Pyrenese mix Sarge (who they recently adopted from a local animal rescue organization). When she’s not taking Sarge to the dog park, Manda enjoys cooking (and cooking shows!) and scuba diving.
Mark is our Director of Operations. He came to us from a dessert company and has more than 20 years of experience in manufacturing, operations and engineering. Mark enjoys spending time with his family, wife Debbie and children Halley, Matt, Alec, Bryce and his black lab Brandi. He takes advantage of the Minnesota outdoors, hunting, fishing and boating in his free time.
Mike is local, living in Minneapolis, and joined the Sojos team as the North Central Territory Sales Rep. His background is in relationship building with an MA in Psychology. He’s worked at a Psychiatric hospital with children and teens and also as a personal trainer for a boutique gym. His love for both people and sales brought him to Sojos and he can’t wait to add a pooch to his family soon. You’ll likely find him in a lake when he’s not hitting the pavement talking about Sojos—he loves water sports of all kinds: boating, water skiing, barefooting, fishing, scuba diving, you name it. And while he lives in Minnesota now, he’s a green and gold Packers fan to the core.
Monte is the Freeze-Drier Lead and has been with Sojos since 2013. He loves food; he’s worked in the food industry for over 20 years and loves to cook for his family. Monte has four kids, ranging from 1 to 14 in age. He spends as much time with his family as possible and enjoys tubing, bowling and even billiards from time to time.
Nik is our Quality Assurance Specialist. When not working, she spends her time at home with her husband Adam and their 3 rescue dogs Murphy, Lily and Santo. She loves landscaping, gardening, and working on DIY home improvement projects. A transplant from Wisconsin, Nik loves the changing seasons of the Midwest, but mostly Fall as it means cooler temperatures, falling leaves and most of all football. On Sundays you will find her wearing Green and Gold doing what she loves most…cheering on the Green Bay Packers!
Paul, our NE Territory Sales Rep, bikes to work every day in the rain, shine, sleet or snow. He’s truly local and calls NE Mpls home, along with his two cats Einstein and Chaos. He studied music technology and previously worked for a custom trumpet maker. He loves everything outdoors, especially mountain biking and camping.
Sam is the SE Territory Sales Rep. and before she joined the Sojos Sales Team, she owned a pet store in Arizona, where she sold nothing but the healthiest of pet products. She recently packed up and moved to Florida, where she now resides with her admittedly spoiled “fur-kid”, Dasee. She’s always said, ‘why have them if you can’t spoil them?’ This is the first time her entire family has lived in the same state, so she’s excited about the move. And since Sam is new to Florida, she enjoys spending her free time scoping out dog beaches and taking Dasee exploring.
Scott is the Bakery Production Lead and joined the Sojos team in 2013. When he’s not covered in dog treat dough, he pals around with Samwich and Pita—his two fur friends (a Yellow Lab and a rescued Boxer). Scott and his wife, Brianna, recently purchased their first home. A true Midwesterner, Scott is an avid snowboarder and enjoys his post as ski patrol at a local ski hill throughout the Minnesota winter. In the summer, you’ll likely find Scott on his long board or taking his crew to the dog park. Oh, and he’s on the Green and Gold side—Go Packers!
Shelby is our Facilities Engineering Supervisor and has been with Sojos for 3+ years. The father of two girls, he grew up in Willmar Minnesota but has lived the the Twin Cities for most of his life. Rounding out the family is a cat (Eco) and the girls' dog, Tucker, who grew up on Sojos and still comes to work on occasion. Tucker is not that picky, but like Shelby, Apple Dumpling is his favorite.
Stacy is a Production Lead in the Sample Department at Sojos. Stacy started with the company in 2013, and found her groove manning the sample machines. When Stacy’s not busting out unimaginable numbers of samples, she spends time at home with her wife Abbey and 6, yes 6, animals. Together they have 2 dogs—Lily (a Golden Retriever) and Kody (a Pit Bull / Cattle Dog mix)— and 4 cats who basically run the household. Stacy’s idea of a good time involves playing with cats and dogs, so she spends the rest of her free time volunteering with a local animal rescue.
Tom is our National Sales Manager and joined the Sojos team with more than 20 years of experience working in the pet biz. When he’s not golfing or enjoying the outdoors, he spends his time grilling for his family, which includes his wife Lisa, his two sons Mark and Stephen and his Cairn Terrier Shadow. Tom is working hard to convince the rest of Sojos that the Chicago Bears are the only team that matters. So far, he hasn’t had much success.
Ward is the Co-Owner and Proprietor of Sojos. He is our in-house animal nutritionist and is a passionate advocate for raw foods. He studied holistic nutrition for pets at The Uptown Veterinarian, a holistic practice in Minneapolis, MN for two years prior to purchasing Sojos in 1996. Aside from pets, his passions include golf and basketball (when he’s not injured). He also plays keyboards for the Twin City’s cheesiest 80’s cover band, Sweet ‘Stache.
Zach is the Sales Coordinator & Customer Service Supervisor. Zach recently adopted a tiny terrier mutt, named Doris, who enjoys zooming up and down the Sojos office hallway. When he’s not chasing Doris around, Zach enjoys reading, cooking and making people laugh with his stand-up comedy.
Our beloved Frank was General Manager of Sojos until his sudden passing in October, 2012. We can't bare to remove him from this page because his presence is still felt at Sojos every day. The impact he had on this company and all who work here will be felt forever. We miss you, Frank – and we're going to keep making you proud!
